Mr.Swezey was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee in 1942. After moving to Martinsville in 1953 he graduated from Martinsville High School in 1960. He attended Randolph-Macon College earning a B. A.degree in political science in 1964 and in 1967 he graduated from the T. C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond, with a J.D. Degree. He has practiced law as general practitioner in Martinsville and Henry County, Virginia, from June 1967 to the present. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar; Martinsville-Henry County Bar Association (President 1975), elected member of the Virginia State Bar Council, 1978 - 1984.
Since returning to Martinsville to start his law practice Mr. Swezey has been involved in numerous civic endeavors serving as President of the Martinsville Kiwanis Club; Vice-President of the Martinsville Jaycee’s; President of Martinsville Henry County Heart Association; President of the Big Brothers of Martinsville and Henry County.
Among other positions, he has served on the Governing Board of Blue Ridge Regional Library; District Committee of the Boy Scouts of America; the Board of Directors of Retail Merchants Association; the Board of Directors of the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce; the Board of Associates of Randolph-Macon College as well as president of Chatmoss Country Club.
A member of Christ Episcopal Church for over sixty years, Mr. Swezey has served several terms on the Vestry most recently serving as Senior Warden; he is a long term lay reader and chalicist and serves as Parish Chancellor along with many other church positions over the years.
He is presently engaged in the general practice of law in Martinsville and Henry County with emphasis on personal injury trial practice, criminal defense, workers' compensation law and social security disability claims.
